Speakers of the day (not necessarily in this order):

1) Ruslan Zaharov [ruX] - Typesafe kotlin webservice

✨Description: Kotlin not only has great syntax but allow to write type safe code. Yes, it does mean better sleep!

✨Bio: Ruslan has been working in software development more than 10 years and gained a lot of experience in various technologies used mainly in startups holding CTO/team lead positions. He is a multi stack developer, passionate about startups and loves practical tools, advocates concise, strict and business-efficient code and lean software development approach

2) Alessandro Puccetti - Google Cloud Composer: The short-living tasks annihilation

✨Description: I will show how even the most simple and innocent-looking pipeline can become problematic and affect many other systems.

As an example, let’s look at a simple pipeline that runs a query on BigQuery, export the data to GCS and compose the results into a single file. Pretty simple stuff but often the simple issues can be the trickiest.

I will show how running a simple cloud-composer pipeline can get out of hand very quickly. Specifically, we will analyse a pipeline generating 100,000 of tasks and few strategies on how to make it more manageable, reliable and understandable.

✨Bio: I am an Italian by birth but a citizen of the world by choice.

After a couple of years spent in exotic locations around the world doing research on network measurement and security, I decided to apply my experience to build new and better Linux technologies in Berlin.

Now I juggle terabytes of data and billions of events into the Cloud in London at Huq Industries.

Huq is a market research company focusing on geolocation data. At Huq, we directly collect events from the real world and transform them into insights for many different markets including finance, outdoor media and property development.

Huq Industries’ proprietary dataset and methodologies offers on-demand access to hard-to-reach consumer trends and behaviours. Currently our research is based on a global panel of tens of million consumers generating hundreds of millions of events a day.
