About this event

We, GDG Cloud Düsseldorf and GDG Düsseldorf, are organising our October meetup on Thursday October 27th at Sipgate in Düsseldorf, a location we are thrilled to come back to.

We have three different topics lined up for you, going back to our roots of mixing topics from different areas to allow us to learn from each other and explore new sides of tech. come and get inspired!

And yes, there will be snacks as well, so if you come straight from work you will still be able to keep both brain and body going.

The topics are

Tracing from A-Z - Randy Gupta

Tracing belongs in almost every monitoring. But what exactly is tracing? How can I use tracing to detect problems early or even identify problems in existing applications? Do I have to commit to a specific manufacturer or framework? How can I use tracing across system boundaries in a meaningful way?

All these questions and more will be dealt with and answered in this session using practical examples.

We build a softphone - 3 times :) - Henry Thoma

CLINQ is still a very young product from Sipgate and is still in the beta phase. Henry Thoma shows us what the path to today's product looked like from the perspective of a developer. He is now iOS Dev at CLINQ, but originally he was in the desktop tea and then briefly on the Android side.

TorAlarm and the change to Jetpack Compose

TorAlarm for Android has 5M+ downloads, 182 000+ reviews on Playstore - a popular app among sport enthusiasts looking to keep score of the latest football games (Tor - GOAL for those who don't speak German) .

In this talk Max and Ian will take us through their journey to switch to Jetpack compose, they will present the basics and show how the switch has made them more productive at TorAlarm.

Jetpack Compose is being hailed as the future of Android development, it is a modern toolkit used for UI on Android, without XML and with less complexity and more usability. We are looking forward to hearing more about how TorAlarm have used Jetpack Compose and what we can learn from them.

Note! You find us on Meetup as well as under GDG Dûsseldorf here on the platform.
