A virtual machine is often the first workload that is deployed when IT admins, students or hobbyists start exploring the Cloud. Too often these first compute instances are deployed in a manner that can cause unnecessary exposure and risk.

In this cloud user group session, we will look at the fundamental building blocks of getting a compute instance up and running, how to secure it, and how to enable secure management. We will also look at the testing, logging and monitoring of the deployment.
