About this event

We have two wonderful talks lined up for our March meetup! Join us for some drinks, pizza and a bunch of your fellow Google Cloud enthusiasts.

< the Google Meet link will be posted here on the day of the event for those wanting to join online >

🎤 Talks 🎤

1. How we use Google Cloud Config Connector at Flink (Yekta Leblebici, Flink)

The speaker:

Yekta is an infrastructure-focused software developer, hacking around Linux terminals from his early ages for the last 15 years. He's passionate about almost anything and everything that happens on a computer screen, nowadays mostly doing Linux, Cloud, Platform, Python and Go stuff for work and leisure.

The talk:

Google's Config Connector offers an alternative approach to Infrastructure as Code, using Kubernetes as an engine and interface for provisioning cloud resources. This approach taps on the potential of what Kubernetes already offers, and enables organizations to benefit from the broader Kubernetes ecosystem while building their cloud presence.

In this talk, Yekta will tell us about Config Connector, and how they use it at Flink to deliver a self-service provisioning experience to our developers.

2. Mastering the DX Framework: A Journey from DORA to SPACE and Beyond for Engineering Organization Maturity (Hany Elfouly, Seer Real)

The speaker:

Hany, a dedicated consultant and founder of Seer Real Consultancy, is passionate about analytics and data-driven decision-making. He has been collaborating with organizations to enhance their engineering maturity and developer productivity by building a winning engineering culture. Focused on Developer Experience (DX) and embracing a human-centric approach, he utilizes data-driven matrices and practical solutions to help teams improve their processes, increase job satisfaction, and achieve their goals.

The talk:

Join us on an enlightening journey through the evolution of software development methodologies, as we explore the shift from DORA’s performance-driven approach, with its key metrics, to the comprehensive and human-centric SPACE framework. Delve into the cutting-edge Developer Experience (DX) research an actionable framework for understanding and Improving Developer Experience, designed to help teams understand and improve their development processes.

Learn about the essential matrices used to measure and enhance your team’s software delivery performance, and the crucial role the right tools play in fostering collaboration and automation. Understand how these paradigms converge to form the modern concept of Developer Experience (DX), empowering teams to deliver high-quality software with increased speed, collaboration, and satisfaction.

Follow three practical steps to elevate your team’s DX:

- Identify opportunities by engaging with developers

- Select 1-2 targeted goals

- Choose metrics to track the progress of those goals, and continuously iterate

Explore the role of engineering organization maturity in maximizing the benefits of these frameworks, and how to assess and elevate your team’s capabilities. This talk promises valuable insights and practical tips on adapting these principles to enhance your development processes, select the right tools, and unlock your team’s full potential while advancing your engineering organization’s maturity.
