This month we will have several exciting lighting talks lined up!
#1) An introduction to Android’s Room Persistence Library.
Kyle Couch is a Mobile Developer at LCS and is an Android/iOS enthusiast.
#2) I will be demonstrating a few basic BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) techniques such as discovering if the current device supports Bluetooth LE, scanning for a Bluetooth LE device and continuously update the current RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) value in a RecyclerView. Lastly, I will demonstrate how to connect to a BLE device and discover the device services and characteristics.
Jonathan Davis is a Mobile Developer at Valentine Research and is very familiar of the pains of Android’s BLE. He’s is primarily an Android Developer plans to branch into iOS development.
#3) We'll be going over a high-level introductory overview of VR development using Google Cardboard and Google Daydream. These platforms offer a great opportunity for getting started in the VR space and with a lower barrier to entry than other HMD systems.
