We're excited to be hosting our first Machine Learning oriented event at GDG Cape Town!
Whether you're a developer, a designer, a manager or a seasoned ML expert, you're bound to learn something at our July event.
We have two awesome speakers who will be covering the fundamental concepts as well as practical implementations in your products/services, leveraging Google technologies such as TensorFlow and ML Kit:
Johann Du Toit
Google Developer Expert (GDE) for Google Cloud Platform
He will be covering:
Info he needed when he started doing Machine Learning work. There were *aha* moments throughout his failures, and his talk will try to condense those learnings.
-> What machine learning actually is, and is not; to level the playing the playing field.
-> The different types of models
-> How you would go about training a model with examples to each
-> How to run your awesome model
The aim of the talk is for the takeaway to be a structured mindset for those now newly approaching machine learning; be they developers/designers or product managers, will be able to walk away able to talk ML and know what to expect when being faced with a ML project.
For the experts, you might at least get to know a few new tools.
Expect realtime demos and some wackyness sprinkled in.
Google Developer Expert (GDE) for Android
She will be covering:
An Android Developer's Guide to Machine Learning with ML Kit, TensorFlow and Firebase.
She will be going through an example app that detects whether or not a chip packet is the Nik Naks brand or not.
Core Machine Learning concepts, face/landmark detection, labelling, barcode scanning and more will be discussed and demoed.
This one is not to be missed, especially if you are involved in the Android Development field!
