About this event

Let's be honest: when we embarked on our web development journey 15 years ago, CSS and us, we weren't exactly the best of friends. Despite the introduction of variables and new layout systems, we remained unconvinced, using it only out of necessity. In 2024, we decided to give it another chance: much like JavaScript, recent CSS innovations have significantly transformed the language, pleasantly surprising us.

In this interactive and demo-rich talk, Olivier Leplus, Developer Advocate at AWS & Google Developer Expert on Web Technologies, will take us on a journey exploring existing and upcoming standards that made us rediscover CSS. Get ready to dive into cool features such as :is(), :has(), nesting, animations, custom media queries, custom properties (far more powerful than you might think), and many other innovations!

Join us in giving CSS a second chance; it might just become your indispensable new companion in front-end development!
