About this event

Why AI Needs Sustainability and Ethics

Artificial Intelligence is transforming industries and daily life, but its rapid growth comes with significant environmental and ethical challenges. Nowhere is this more crucial than in Europe, where strong values around sustainability and responsibility are guiding a unique approach to AI.

This conference tackles the critical question: How can we innovate in AI while reducing its carbon footprint and have ethics in mind? Attendees will explore the environmental impact of AI—from energy-hungry data centers to the carbon cost of machine learning models—and discover strategies to build greener, ethical AI solutions. Because we need innovation, but we also need to have it in balance with ethics. We will explore where the boundaries are and explore frameworks and methodologies to tackle ethical and sustainability problems.

Google Developer Groups are collaborating to champion an AI vision that is powerful, innovative, and fundamentally sustainable. By sharing best practices, open-source models and knowledge, and community-driven insights, these groups will serve as catalysts for wider adoption. The conference also acts as a launchpad for the sustainable AI community in Europe.
