This is a free workshop where you will be building a miniature home alarm system and connecting it to the cloud with Raspberry Pi and Google Cloud Pub/Sub.

Raspberry Pi is a card sized computer commonly used in IoT projects. It is often used as a tool to teach programming.

Google Cloud Pub/Sub is a fully-managed real-time messaging service that allows you to send and receive messages between independent applications. It is part of Google Cloud Platform.

This workshop will be hands-on: you will be building a simplified home alarm circuit, and then programming the Raspberry Pi to interact with the circuit. You will then connect it to the Cloud with Cloud Pub/Sub, turning the Raspberry Pi into an IoT device. This allows you to receive telemetry events from the Raspberry Pi and to push configurations.

Prerequisites:
No programming experience is required. Python will be used for the event but most of the code will be provided to you.

Your laptop with the following installed:
-Python3
-Laptop charger
