In “CircuiTech Wizard” participants will be introduced to the computing world through Arduino coding with IDE Software! The participants will actively work their way through the course by learning the theory and applying it in several projects.
This workshop will be held in conjunction with the celebration of the 17th National Youth day in Brunei.
His Majesty has proclaimed 1st August as National Youth Day in recognition and appreciation of the youth movement in the country. This year’s celebration is on 9th August 2022. The theme for 2019-2022: “Belia Siaga Masa Depan”. The theme means that the future promises the youths as the inheritors of the nation and country. The survival of the nation and country lies with the youth. High expectations for the youth coincide with their role as national assets. This year, the format of the event will be a 3-days convention (9th- 11th August), and hands-on tech workshops are one of the expected activities at the event.

Nina has been holding the role as the Head of Seria Energy Lab (SEL) since 2018. Her role as the head includes sustaining SEL as a premier science centre that actively promotes interactive STEM education, sustainable energy and 21st century skills. With Nina’s leadership, she has managed to make SEL the pioneer of several innovative science programs and workshops such as the Women in Science competition, Innovation Hub and Science Communication workshop. These programs are designed to expose students and educators nationwide to crucial skills and competencies such as effective science communication, design thinking and critical thinking. She was also part of the project team in the revamp of SEL exhibitions from concept design up until installation and commissioning. Nina is also a part time PhD student at Universiti Brunei Darussalam. Her research field is science communication through interactive teaching. She is now working on a mixed method research to investigate the effectiveness of utilizing a tool called Science Shows in teaching difficult science concepts.
Hilmi is the project manager for Seria Energy Lab’s Innovation Hub Program. Hilmi is a technical school graduate from the IBTE Sultan Bolkiah Campus taking NTEC in Business and Administration from 2016 to 2017. He then decides to pursue his HNTECH in Business and Finance in 2017 to 2019. Hilmi has multiple work experience including a Financial Analyst at the Finance Department of Jabatan Keraja Raya (JKR) Kuala Belait in 2017 and a Science Facilitator at Seria Energy Lab (SEL) in 2019 before landing the role as a STEM facilitator at SEL.
Despite having a Business Finance background, his interest in robotics and programming were much bigger. Hilmi’s interest in STEM grew fonder through his exposure in the field at SEL. Through this program he also wishes to advocate that, robotics and programming can be handled by anyone as long as the motivation is there.
