About this event

Now that your application is deployed in the cloud using Kubernetes can you tell what is the exact status of it? Awareness of how many resources your application is using or how long it takes to answer a request is highly valued when working with large cloud based systems, and GDG Cloud Brno decided to talk about it. There is a solution for this issue, and it’s called Prometheus. Vladimir will be talking about how Prometheus works, how to easily deploy it, possible use cases, how he uses it for monitoring, and he will be answering all the questions you might have.

Prometheus features include:
Aggregation of metrics created by your application
Displaying metrics in graphs
Alerting; after a metric had surpassed a set threshold, the Prometheus will alert the user via email, SMS or phone notifications (using PagerDuty or OpsGenie)

In case any non-Czech speaking attendees will be present, the presentation will be in English.

Vladimir Masarik is a student of Computer Science at Masaryk University and a member of Google Developers Group (GDG) in Brno. He got to work with Prometheus and Kubernetes while developing part of OpenShift at Red Hat. The Kubernetes and Prometheus interested him so much that he decided to write a thesis on this topic.
