About this event

I’m excited to announce that Boston Android is going to once again host Study Jams for our chapter. This event series is for people with programming experience who are interested in learning the Kotlin programming language for Android app development. It helps to have the support of a study group.

On September 20th we started weekly sessions to learn the essentials of the Kotlin programming language and the fundamentals of how to build Android apps in Kotlin. All you need is a computer. You can check the system requirements and get Android Studio installed. Having an Android device is not required. You can use the emulator or run your apps on your device. Here is the short list of topics covered in these sessions:

  • Kotlin Koans
  • Build an interactive app
  • Layouts and Navigation
  • Activity and Fragment lifecycles
  • Architecture components
  • Databases and RecyclerView Lists
  • Connect to the internet
  • Design for everyone
