For our last Meetup for 2018 we will be back in the cbase, with two great talks.
Lara Martín (https://twitter.com/lariki) from Babbel will talk about the benefits of enabling junior developers:
Bringing Junior developers into your team can be a challenge, but it can also be rewarding. Mentoring can benefit both sides: It can help juniors with the most difficult moment in their career, and it can help seniors become better professionals. Come and learn how juniors and seniors can support each other and grow together.
Mayowa Adegeye (https://twitter.com/mayojava) from Careem will talk about the newest Kotlin coroutine api that became stable in Kotlin 1.3:
In Android application development, we live in a single threaded world. The ui/main thread is dedicated for UI updates and handling user interactions. As a result, we cannot do any long running operation on this thread, else we run the risk of freezing or crashing our app.
A new solution to this are Kotlin coroutines which it allows us to write async code in an imperative and synchronous manner.
In this talk we will be exploring the basics of how to do background operations with kotlin coroutine and the idea of structured concurrency.
As always there will be a flea market section between the talks and lots of possibilities to chat to the Berlin Android Community.
