Most developers recognise Compose as part of the JetPack libraries for modern Android development. But its ambitions go much further. Compose is a cross-platform framework that offers a unified approach to client development on the Web, the Desktop and Mobile Devices. You share the same language, API’s, patterns, components etc... across all your front-end codebases, and the benefits go beyond regular UI functionality.
This two part talk will introduce Compose from both a conceptual and practical perspective. First Garth Gilmour will cover Compose in isolation, explaining how it is implemented and live coding demos for the Web and Desktop. Then Kelvin Harron will do a deep dive on JetPack Compose, showing how it modernises and simplifies Android development - with a particular emphasis on navigation, testing and accessibility.
