Title: Big Data on the Google Cloud Platform
Abstract: The Google Cloud Platform offers an enticing range of technologies for building Big Data systems. In this talk, I'll describe my experience of the reality of moving from on-premise Hadoop systems to GCP.

Do services like BigQuery and Dataproc live up the hype? Can the machine learning APIs scale to handle large data volumes? And how much of this is really 'serverless'?

Then Patrick Walker will walk through a code lab on Cloud Vision API which is a machine learning image classification service available on the Google Cloud Platform via a rest API. We'll classify images from the aww sub-reddit and it'll be probably fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

Agenda :

19:15 James Bunch
19:45 Break
20:00 Awwvision - An introduction to the Cloud Vision API via pictures of dogs and cats and stuff
20:30 Lightning Talk Space
