About this event

We're going to be discussing everything Android in October.

We're delighted to be joined by Raul Portales. Raul is a Software Engineer with a love for computers, electronics and gadgets in general since as long as he remembers. He jumped into
Android as soon as it was released. Raul has worked on social networks, education, healthcare and even founded a gaming studio and a consultancy company. Specialized on mobile and UX, he speaks frequently at conferences and meetups.

During this talk Raul will show how to configure and use Vizzy for visual testing your app (platform agnostic)
You have your Ul tests, and they verify that a button with the right text is on screen... but how do you check that the style is consistent, or that the padding hasn't changed, or anything about the actual visual representation of the UI.
You can do it manually, but what if there were a tool that simplify that? That is what Vizzy does.

We also will be welcoming Jordan Colgan from Instil. Jordan is a software engineer at Instil( https://instil.co/) and is working on the ShopKeep Android project,

Talk Title: Past, Present, and Future of coroutines in (ShopKeep) Android

Description: A look at the adoption and evolution of coroutines in the ShopKeep Android project, along with lessons learnt and a look at the new scope updates.

Our third speaker is Conor Devine. Conor is from Derry. Currently working at Allstate Northern Ireland. I have a couple years experience in Android development. Graduated with a first class honours in Computer Science from Ulster University last summer. Enjoying my volunteering experience on the Time To Code program teaching primary five children how to code. Always open to new opportunities

Conor will be presenting a short powerpoint presentation on Android App Bundle with Dynamic Delivery. This will include some theory behind what this is, the benefits it brings and a simple demonstration of a POC app created.

We also are very keen to hear from anyone who may be at Uni or just finished up who has potentially done a project in Android and would like to give a little demo/presentation of the work. If that's you hit us up!

Massive thank you to our sponsors for this event. Shopkeep (https://www.shopkeep.com/careers) for the Venue and drinks and Slice (https://slicelife.com/careers) who will be feeding us and just generally being dead on.

Also thanks again to instil ( https://instil.co/) for their continued support
