It's Study Jam time again! This season, we'll be using Udacity's Android Development for Beginners. The course is geared towards people new to Android development, as well as people new to programming in general, so don't worry if you're new to all of this.
We'll have a new format this time as well. We'll have meetups every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, from Feb 4 until April 21, and we'll have time set aside for watching the lesson videos together, as well as time for you to work on your project alongside fellow students. We'll have at least one person who has completed the course in attendance, so they'll be able to help answer questions you might have. As an incentive, we'll be providing a limited number of swag kits for people who finish the course with us!
This first session, we'll watch a live hangout with the course instructors, which will start at 6pm sharp! (This is why the start time is 5:45) Afterwards, we'll help get everyone set up with Java and Android Studio, and either get the emulator working, or connect their Android device for development.
If you want to get a head start, you can download Android Studio and the Android SDK here. Note that you'll need to install a copy of the JDK as well, which is available here. Finally, and most importantly, sign up for the Google Study Jams group on Udacity here.
