About this event

NotebookLM is an AI-powered research and writing tool from Google that helps you interact with your notes and documents in a whole new way. It was voted among the best inventions of 2024 by Time Magazine and has frequently been cited as a stand out example of AI's potential to revolutionise the way people work.  The Wall Street Journal described it as, "One of the most compelling and completely flabbergasting demonstrations of AI's potential yet".

Described as a 'personalised AI research assistant' NotebookLM is a powerful tool for anyone seeking to understand and synthesise large volumes of information. It can generate summaries, explanations, and answers based on content uploaded by users. It also includes "Audio Overviews", which summarises documents in a conversational, podcast-like format.

In this session Steven Johnson - a core member of the NotebookLM team and a popular science & innovation author  - will provide an overview of how to use the tool, with a particular focus on use cases for researchers and educators.

Steven Johnson is the Editorial Director of NotebookLM and Google Labs. Described by the Wall Street Journal as "one of the most persuasive advocates for the role of collaboration in innovation," Johnson is the bestselling author of 14 books on science, technology and the history of innovation, including 'Where Good Ideas Come From', 'The Ghost Map', and his latest, 'The Infernal Machine'. He is also the co-creator and host of the Emmy-winning PBS/BBC television series 'How We Got To Now' and 'Extra Life', and is a contributing writer at the New York Times Magazine.
