This presentation will review the basics of solar power, including how it works, how it's attached to a home or business, and the economics of solar power. Dave will also review some of Ypsilanti's current successes including the installation of 800kW in the Highland Cemetery, 50kW on the roof of the local Fire Station (SolarYpsi.org/FireHouseArticle.html), and Ypsi's national GoldSolSmart award (SolarYpsi.org/SolSmartAward.html) from the SolarFoundation - the first and only in Michigan. 

Finally the talk will cover how to use Google's Project SunRoof (google.com/get/sunroof) to encourage more and larger solar installations in the City.

About Dave Stenski

Dave has degrees in surveying, civil, and mechanical engineering and is currently a principal engineer at Cray Inc (cray.com). Cray is a company that designs and manufactures High Performance Computing systems. As a hobby, Dave plays with solar power and is the founder of SolarYpsi.org, which has helped the City of Ypsilanti go from zero solar power in 2005 to over a megawatt of solar power today.
