Master the Cloud : Docker & Kubernetes Workshop

FULL TIME WASTE EVENT

TIME WASTE EVENT… ORGANIZERS DID NOT USE A PROPER DEVICE/WEBCAM TO SHOW THE EVENT TO ONLINE ATTENDEES. A SIMPLE SCREEN SHARE COULD HAVE WORKED WELL, BUT NO. AND THEN AFTER 30 MINUTES OR SO, THE PRESENTER’S DAILY DATA QUOTA OF THE JIO SIM CARD WAS USED UP, SO THE PRESENTATION STOPPED AND NOBODY CARED TO CHECK IF IT WAS STILL GOING ON OR NOT. TOTAL TIME WASTE. COULD HAVE LEARNED MORE FROM A YOUTUBE VIDEO.

I agree google teams should oversee such events and create guardrails against such organizers

We should have implemented stronger internal controls for a hybrid session, including:

  • A pre-event technical dry run under real bandwidth conditions

  • A designated technical moderator monitoring stream continuity

  • A mandatory wired internet setup instead of a personal hotspot

  • Backup data provisioning and a co-host redundancy system

Those are structural safeguards, and we acknowledge they were insufficient in this case.

We’re formalizing a standard operating protocol for future events to ensure technical oversight is institutionalized rather than improvised. Your feedback highlights exactly where our process needs tightening, and we’re taking that seriously.

Thank you for calling it out.

If you have any further feedback do not hesitate to reach out to me on campus.

Hi, we deeply regret the inconvenience caused to online attendees, we understand the frustration this may have caused you, we already warned as advertised that the online platform may face issues as we required webcam support over and above screenshare.

College infra did not support an active connection thus the hotspot issue. We did inform in the meet as available in the recording for the attendees to join us offline if they are available.

We are genuinely sorry for the inconvenience and we hope you give us a chance to improve as we do this for the community. Do join our active initiatives such as ASCEND which are actively monitored and are informative to online attendees as it is specifically for the remote audience.
