Honestly, for me the two can’t be separated. Tech skills tell you what’s possible, creativity tells you what’s actually worth building.
Where creativity really shows up is lateral thinking. Ideal solution blocked? Fine — find a midway path and fix the functionality anyway. That instinct has saved me more times than any framework has. And in product dev you have no choice — you need to be on your toes creatively all the time, because code is predictable but user attention isn’t. Getting someone hooked to a product is basically a creative problem dressed up as a technical one.
And one thing nobody talks about enough — AI FOMO has started hitting our personal lives now. Every week something new drops, and there’s this quiet pressure to learn it, try it, ship with it before everyone else. Slowly it eats into your rest, your family time, even the fun of building itself. Creativity needs breathing room, and that’s exactly what this FOMO keeps stealing.
