Hey, I’m a total sucker for good swag, so thanks for starting this thread 😄

  1. How important is it?

    • Honestly, it’s not why I show up, but man does it make everything feel more real. I still get a little dopamine hit every time I throw on a hoodie from a project I love or spot my laptop covered in stickers from communities I care about. It’s like wearing your fandom on your sleeve (literally).

  2. Event where swag actually moved the needle?

    • There was this tiny indie conference a couple years back that gave out custom mechanical keyboards as the “big” giveaway.” Not some cheap plastic thing; proper aluminum case, nice switches, and the event logo tastefully engraved on the spacebar. People lost their minds. I still see those boards popping up in people’s stream setups. One piece of swag basically turned the event into a legend.

  3. Swag I actually use and love

    • Hoodies that don’t shrink after one wash

    • Metal water bottles (I have way too many but zero regrets)

    • Fun socks with dumb inside jokes

    • Keycaps or desk mats that make my workspace look cooler

    • Enamel pins (I’m that guy with a pin-covered backpack)

    • Cheap T-shirts that fall apart or pens I’ll never use? Straight to the drawer of sadness.

  4. Ideas to make swag even better

    • Let the community design it (I’ve seen Discord design contests go nuclear; people wear those winning shirts with insane pride)

    • Tie rare items to contributions (“top 50 PRs this year get the secret black hoodie”)

    • Scavenger hunts or mini-games at events for limited stuff

    • Milestone drops (“when we hit 100k members, the limited coin drops”)

    • Charity collabs; feels extra good wearing something that helped someone

What about you guys? What’s that one piece of swag you still use every day or that makes you grin when you see it in your closet? Spill the tea 👀

I think a bit different on this, Swags just tell me the person is associated with a community or group. Mostly Tshirt or Hoodies fit in there which should be accessible to all who has been in the community for 6 months or more.
There should also be Swag categories based on the solutions provided to the clients something like star ratings...
