AI Summary

Hi everyone,

We're exploring the idea of expanding GDG activities into new areas, such as Bahawalpur. This presents both challenges and opportunities for our community.

Discussion Points:

  • What do you think are the key steps to establishing a vibrant GDG community in a new location?

  • Have you been part of or heard about successful initiatives in other cities that could inspire us?

  • What roles and resources are needed to kick-start activities and engage the local developer community effectively?

  • How can volunteers from established GDG chapters, like ours in Islamabad, support and mentor new teams in other areas?

We'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Share your ideas and let's brainstorm to make GDG Bahawalpur a reality!

Really glad to see this. Bahawalpur is my home city and I'm based here, so count me in as boots on the ground.

Quick thoughts: the winning formula for a new chapter is a campus anchor (Islamia University Bahawalpur, UCP, Sadiq, roots and convent are the obvious ones) plus a small, consistent monthly cadence study jams and build-along sessions over one-off big events. From Islamabad's side, a speaker pipeline for the first 6 months would be the highest-leverage support.

I've built communities before (founded a societies at NUST serving 5,400+ students) and work full-time in AI/automation (no/low-code for now, and learning coding/ML/AI), so I'd be happy to help organize locally and run sessions on AI agents and automation. Who's leading this? Would love to connect and get it moving.
