AI Summary

Hello GDG Community!

My name is alaukik dave, a tech enthusiast and organizer from my college(government polytechnic ,Ahmedabad) , currently passionate about building developer communities, exploring full-stack development, AI tools, and cloud technologies. I’ve already built a well-structured tech club on campus with an active group of motivated members, and now I’m hoping to take it to the next level by becoming a GDSC Lead or even establishing a GDG chapter at my college

I’d really appreciate any guidance on:

How a student can apply for or prepare to become a GDSC Lead

Steps or eligibility requirements for starting a GDG chapter on campus

Whether an existing, organized student tech club can be officially transformed into a GDSC/GDG community

Any mentorship or suggestions from existing community organizers on making this transition successful

Thank you in advance! I’m truly excited about the possibility of contributing, collaborating, and growing with this inspiring community.

As a former GDG On Campus Organizer, here’s what I can share:

GDSC has now been rebranded to GDG On Campus, and your campus can apply to start a chapter. The process typically works through referrals, which you can get from any active GDG On Campus organizer. Applications usually open around March each year.

I’d recommend staying connected with the current GDG or GDG On Campus organizers in your region—they can guide you through the eligibility steps and help you secure a referral when the application window opens.

Hope this helps, and best of luck with getting your campus involved!

Hello Alaukik

As a GDG On Campus (GDGOC) Organizer, I’d like to share that :

If you want to start a brand-new GDGOC chapter in your campus, you will need a referral from a nearby campus that already has an active GDGOC community.

Applications usually open between March to June every year.

Eligibility:

You must have at least 1 year left before graduating, as you’ll be leading the chapter for a full year.

You should have a good understanding of technology (not expert level—just strong fundamentals and genuine interest).

The rest depends on your application for the community.

Once your chapter gets approved, you’ll begin building your own GDGOC community on campus—organizing events, workshops, meetups, and helping students grow in tech.

I hope this helps!

Wishing you all the best !
