One solution could be to create a waiting list for people who couldn’t register because the event was full.

On the event day, if some registered participants don’t show up, those empty seats can be given to people on the waiting list. A notification can be sent 10–15 minutes before releasing the seats so they get a chance to join.

It would also be useful to show live updates like how many people have checked in, how many seats are left, and how many people are waiting.

This way, seats won’t go unused and people who genuinely want to attend still get a chance to join.
