GDG on Campus Towson University is a student-led technical community officially supported by Google Developer Groups and hosted at Towson University. Our mission is to foster hands-on learning, collaboration, and professional growth by connecting students with modern technologies, real-world skills, and an inclusive developer community.
The chapter focuses on applied artificial intelligence and machine learning, with strong emphasis on Google AI technologies, model development, deployment, and integration into real systems. Our activities are designed to bridge theory and practice, complementing coursework and research with experiential learning.
GDG on Campus Towson University organizes a wide range of technical and community-focused activities, including:
Hands-on workshops in AI/ML, data science, computer vision, federated learning, and edge computing
Technical talks and seminars led by students, faculty, and industry professionals
Learning tracks and study groups around Google AI tools, ML engineering, and applied systems
Collaborative projects and hackathon-style events focused on solving real problems
Career and professional development sessions, including research pathways and industry readiness
Community-building events that promote inclusion, mentorship, and peer learning
While AI and ML are our core focus, we also explore cloud computing, web technologies, and mobile platforms where they support intelligent and data-driven applications.
GDG on Campus Towson University is run by a volunteer organizing team responsible for programming, operations, outreach, and long-term sustainability:
