About this event

Most AI tutorials stop at simple single-turn prompts, but scalable systems require autonomous agents that reason over live data, manage persistent context, and execute complex multi-step tasks. In this hands-on workshop, you will step beyond conversational interfaces to architect, configure, and deploy next-generation autonomous agentic systems using Google Cloud.

Bring your laptop! This is an active engineering session with zero local setup required. You will leave with a fully functioning system running in your cloud environment.

What We'll Do:

  • Autonomous Task Orchestration: Configure multi-step agent workflows that plan, reason, and act across complex task flows.

  • State & Tool Integration: Connect agent architectures to cloud tools, execution environments, and live datasets.

  • Resilient System Design: Implement robust patterns built to manage complex runtime inputs, long-running processes, and error recovery.

Agenda:
- 5:30pm~6:00pm: Checkin, food and networking
- 6:00pm~6:30pm: Tech talk & QA
- 6:30pm~8:00pm: Hands-on code labs/build your own app
- 8:00pm~8:30pm: Demo, Open discussion and Mixer

Hands-on Workshop: Building Resilient Asynchronous Agents
Moving beyond conversational chatbots requires systems that do more than predict the next token. Real-world autonomous architectures must plan multi-step operations, interface with external tools, maintain state across asynchronous operations, and recover cleanly from runtime failures.
In this intensive 90-minute, in-person masterclass hosted by Google and AICamp, you will move directly into active engineering. Working entirely inside Google Cloud Shell, you will build and deploy a next-generation autonomous agentic system from the ground up—wiring dynamic tool calling, state management, and resilient multi-step orchestration into a cohesive, runnable architecture.
No slides, no abstract theory, and zero local setup required. Bring your laptop, build alongside Google engineers, and leave with a fully functional autonomous system running live in the cloud.

Who Should Attend?
This hands-on workshop is designed for software developers, data scientists, and AI practitioners who have some experience building applications or working with models, and are looking to productionize them. To get the most out of the labs, you should have foundational knowledge of a programming language like Python and be comfortable using the command-line interface. While expertise is not required, a basic understanding of Cloud computing concepts, web APIs, and containerization technology like Docker will be highly beneficial.

Prerequisite:
* Fully charged laptop
* Basic coding skills
* Python and AI/ML knowledge are helpful.

GDG Vancouver is partnering with Google Cloud and AICamp for an intensive, 90-minute in-person build with AI lab where theory translates directly into functional software.
