Pre-DevFest Series: Building User-Centered Digital Solutions with AI

GDG Umuahia

The Pre-DevFest Virtual Series serves as the technical runway to DevFest Umuahia 2026 (holding November 21, 2026). Technology is only as good as the problem it solves. This session bridges product thinking and artificial intelligence, teaching developers and early-stage founders how to discover user pain points, validate problem spaces, and leverage AI to build digital products.

About this event

Series Overview

The Pre-DevFest Virtual Series serves as the technical runway to DevFest Umuahia 2026 (holding November 21, 2026) https://gdg.community.dev/e/mbjbwf/. In October, our community gathers online to explore advanced engineering concepts, cloud architectures, AI workflows, and practical software design.

From Problem to Product: Building User-Centered Digital Solutions with AI

Many technology ideas fail not because the technology is unavailable, but because they are built without a clear understanding of the problem, the people affected, or the context in which the solution will be used. This session addresses the gap between identifying a real-world problem and transforming it into a useful, user-centered digital product.

The session will introduce a practical workflow for moving from problem discovery → user research → defining requirements → ideation → UI/UX design → rapid prototyping → AI-assisted development → testing → deployment and improvement.

Participants will explore how UI/UX principles, artificial intelligence, frontend technologies, APIs, low-code/no-code tools, and modern development workflows can be combined to build practical solutions faster while maintaining usability, accessibility, and scalability.

The session will also demonstrate how AI can support different stages of the product-development process, including research, ideation, wireframing, content generation, prototyping, coding assistance, debugging, and iteration. Real-world examples will be used to show how developers, designers, entrepreneurs, and public-sector innovators can use these tools to move beyond ideas and create solutions that deliver measurable impact.

Key areas covered:

  • Identifying and validating real-world problems
  • User research and defining target users
  • Product requirements and solution mapping
  • UI/UX design and rapid prototyping
  • AI-assisted product design and development
  • Frontend development and API integration
  • Low-code/no-code and productivity tools
  • Testing, feedback, iteration, and deployment
  • Designing solutions that are accessible, practical, and scalable

The goal is to give participants a repeatable, practical framework for turning an idea into a functional digital solution, regardless of whether they are developers, designers, entrepreneurs, or technology enthusiasts.
