GDG Ambassadors and Hello-World Teachers

Teachers & GDG Ambassadors need to sign up to access the Hello World Workshop + Supporting Resources for the school teams involved in the challenge.

Challenge: Can [Hello-World] young innovators (pupils) produce a better visual Website Design concept than their [teacher ] in 90 minutes using only natural language AI prompting?

Event Description:
A 90-minute in-person workshop for school teachers and their students as part of the Teesside University - Hello World event.

In this workshop, participants will take part in a team Website Design Challenge using Google AI tools - Gemini, NotebookLM and Stitch. This is a concept and design challenge, not a live build session.

Participants will work in teams of 3–5 to design a Website concept that solves a real problem for young people.

Challenge domain websites include: a) Health b) Wellbeing c) Learning, Skills & Careers or d) Creativity & Fun.

Important team requirement:
Each team must have an adult supervisor - Teacher or GDG Hello World Ambassadors.

Adult supervisors will use their registered Google accounts to access the in-person workshop resources and Google AI tools. Participants will work under supervision and should use avatars only, with no real names or identifying details included in their content.

To kick start the workshop, each team needs the following to start the challenge:

  • a Website name

  • a chosen challenge domain

  • a short problem statement

  • the intended target users

  • 3 key features

  • a simple user journey

At the end of the workshop challenge, you will have produced the following

  • a full creative concept pack including:

    • Visual Website Design (interactive)

    • slide deck (Pitch)

    • infographic (Workflow)

    • podcast audio (6min - 2 experts discussing and reviewing your website)

    • short video (6mins - video highlight of your website project)

    • Summary Report (Systems Design Document)

Bonus challenge:
Can young innovators design a better Website concept than their teacher?

Important attendance information:
This workshop is open only to schools participating in the Hello World event.

The following adults must sign up in advance to access the in-person workshop resources and support delivery:

  • Teachers support and take part in the event

  • GDG Ambassadors supporting workshop delivery

  • Teesside University staff supporting workshop delivery

The strongest Website Design may later be passed to the GDG Developer Team, who may take it forward as a separate follow-on project and develop it into a proof-of-concept Website for educational purposes only after the event.
