We are excited to host our second workshop “Security Controls Networking  Fundamentals” for our Linux Campaign. This workshop is a hands-on walkthrough of how the internet works, how devices communicate across a network, and what it looks like to access and explore a remote system like a hacker would. 

You'll develop an understanding of how data traverses the internet, the protocols and addressing systems that underpin device communication, and how tools like ssh leverage cryptography to establish secure remote sessions. We'll also cover the fundamentals of encryption, explore how advances in quantum computing threaten current cryptographic standards, and break down the methodology behind penetration testing and ethical hacking. You'll be getting hands-on experience with logging into a Linux VM instance hosting on our hardware, and getting to know Windows Subsystems for Linux (WSL) on your systems.

Workshop 2 will take place in Room 106 on Wednesday 24th June at 2:30-4:30. This is a hybrid event so you will be able to attend this workshop online from the GDG Event Bevy platform once you've RSVP'd.
