From Zero to Full-Stack: A Joint Initiative by Moi University & University of Eldoret
Are you ready to transform your coding skills? IEEE Computer Society Moi University, GDG Moi University, and IEEE Computer Society University of Eldoret have joined forces to bring you a comprehensive, hands-on Software Development Bootcamp.
Designed for consistency and impact, this 12-week program moves beyond theory. You will learn to build empathic, user-centered solutions, master the full stack, and deploy real-world software.
Duration: 12 Weeks
Format: Live Sessions
Schedule: 2x per week (2.5 hours per session)
Commitment: Hands-on coding, project building, and peer collaboration.
By the end of this bootcamp, you will be equipped to:
Build Responsive Frontends: Master HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React to create stunning interfaces.
Develop Robust Backends: Engineer systems using Python, Django, and MySQL.
Master APIs: Design and consume RESTful APIs effectively.
Think Like an Engineer: Apply Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA) to solve complex problems.
Design with Empathy: Learn design thinking to build solutions that genuinely help users.
Deploy Projects: Deliver live, portfolio-ready full-stack applications.
Week 0: Orientation
Program onboarding, expectations, and setting up your dev environment.
Week 1: Web Foundations & Design Thinking
How the web works (Client/Server/HTTP).
Git & GitHub for version control.
Special Focus: Empathy in Design & Problem Framing.
Weeks 2โ5: Core Frontend Tech
Deep dive into HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and React.
Week 6: ๐ ๏ธ The Frontend Project
Apply your skills to build and ship a responsive web interface.
Weeks 7โ10: Backend Development
Server-side programming with Python.
Database management with MySQL.
Building APIs with Django.
Weeks 11โ12: ๐ The Full-Stack Project
Combine frontend and backend skills.
Final project development, testing, and deployment.
After 12 weeks of remote and hybrid learning, students from Moi University and the University of Eldoret will gather at a central venue for a high-energy finale. This day is about more than just certificates; itโs a celebration of innovation and community.
The morning kicks off with our "Product Showcase." Each full-stack team will have the floor to pitch their final project to a panel of industry mentors and peers.
Live Demos: No slide decks onlyโwe want to see your code in action.
Problem-Solution Fit: Teams will explain how their application uses "Design Thinking" to solve a specific problem in the Kenyan context.
Feedback Loop: Receive direct critiques from guest developers and tech leads from the North Rift tech ecosystem.
Meet the faces behind the screens. This session is designed to bridge the gap between learning and earning.
Recruiter Interaction: We invite local tech hubs and startups looking for fresh, full-stack talent.
Cross-Campus Collaboration: Formalize the bonds built during the 12-week peer coding sessions.
LinkedIn & Portfolio Review: On-site "check-up" stations to ensure your new projects are visible to the world.
The day concludes with the official award ceremony.
Recognition: Certificates of completion co-signed by IEEE and GDG leads.
Top Performer Awards: Special mentions for "Most Creative Frontend," "Most Robust Backend," and the "Empathy in Design" award.
