The workshop “Powering Your App with Data: Data Storage Using Hive & Supabase” is designed to help participants understand how modern mobile applications manage, store, and synchronize data efficiently. In today’s digital world, data is the foundation of every successful app, and knowing how to handle it properly is a crucial skill for mobile developers.
During this workshop, participants will explore two powerful data storage solutions: Hive for local storage and Supabase for cloud-based storage and backend services.
The session begins with an introduction to data architecture in mobile applications, explaining the difference between local storage and cloud storage, and when to use each. Participants will then learn how Hive enables fast, lightweight, and offline-capable data storage directly on the device. Practical examples will demonstrate how to store user preferences, cache data, and manage local app state efficiently.
Next, the workshop introduces Supabase as a modern Backend-as-a-Service platform that provides a PostgreSQL database, authentication, real-time updates, and cloud storage. Participants will learn how to connect a mobile app to Supabase, manage user authentication, store data securely in the cloud, and synchronize information across multiple devices.
A key focus of the workshop is building a hybrid architecture that combines both Hive and Supabase. Participants will understand how to:
Store data locally for offline access
Sync data with the cloud when internet is available
Improve performance and user experience
Ensure data security and scalability
By the end of the workshop, attendees will have a clear understanding of how to design scalable mobile applications powered by efficient data storage systems. They will gain practical knowledge that can be applied to real-world projects such as task managers, e-commerce apps, car rental systems, and social platforms.
This workshop is ideal for mobile app developers, Flutter beginners, and anyone interested in building smart, data-driven applications that are fast, reliable, and production-ready.
