Leading like a Woman with Gaelle Feghali

When I embarked on my professional journey, I landed in Saudi Arabia. My first client ignored me entirely. Instead of being deflated, I embraced the challenge of proving that women deserve to have a seat at the table. Two years into my job, I was the first woman from my team to go to Baghdad. I realised that if I believed in myself, clients would believe in me. This turnaround kicked-off a recurring theme in my career. While I had learned how to navigate gender bias outside the company, I found another challenge ahead of the road: The absence of female role model in the tech world. With time, I learned how to lead like a woman: equally but differently than men. I learned to redirect my energy and embrace leadership attributes that women apply more naturally than men. Four years into my job, I was participating in board meetings as the only woman with ministers, experts, and CEOs. My fight for workplace gender inequality continued beyond the corporate world. After conducting a women empowerment workshop in a Refugee camp in Lebanon, I’ve come to the realisation that whatever the social class, there is still a gap: business environments must support women’s motivation to lead and increase the likelihood that others recognise and encourage these efforts, even when ‘she’ doesn’t look nor behave like the current generation of senior executives.

Web Machine Learning: Introduction to TensorFlow.js with Patty O'Callaghan

In this talk, I will show how to make a smart webcam application that recognises common objects, based on a pre-trained Machine Learning model that runs on the browser and using the most popular ML framework for Javascript: TensorFlow.js.

Duration: 60 minutes
