Cancellazione DevFest Niscemi

Ciao a tutti,

come purtroppo saprete, Niscemi sta vivendo ore drammatiche. L’emergenza causata dalla frana ha portato a numerose ordinanze di evacuazione e, nel momento in cui vi scriviamo, si contano oltre 1500 sfollati e, per fortuna, nessuna vittima.

Niscemi non è mai stata una semplice "location" per noi della community. È il luogo che abbiamo scelto insieme per celebrare la nostra DevFest di quest'anno. Avevamo immaginato di parlare di futuro e innovazione all'interno del Museo Civico: un posto che racconta chi siamo stati, creando quel ponte tra passato e presente che rende noi siciliani unici, con tutte le nostre meravigliose contraddizioni.

La nostra decisione

Data la gravità della situazione, ci troviamo costretti a cancellare l’evento a Niscemi.

Tuttavia, vogliamo che sia chiaro: nessuno di noi ha intenzione di mollare. Se la tecnologia serve a migliorare la vita delle persone, questo è il momento di dimostrare il valore della nostra community al di fuori degli schermi. Siamo a completa disposizione delle autorità e della cittadinanza per qualsiasi necessità in cui le nostre competenze possano essere d'aiuto.

Solidarietà e Azione

Ora per noi non è il tempo dei talk, ma quello della solidarietà e dell'aiuto concreto alla comunità niscemese fuori dai riflettori e dove serve.

Vogliamo stringerci in un forte abbraccio al nostro organizer Gianfranco Di Pietro, niscemese DOC, che fin dal primo momento si è speso senza riserve mettendo a disposizione i propri mezzi e le proprie competenze all'interno del centro di emergenza. La nostra motivazione non vacilla: ci sarà un "dopo emergenza", e in quel momento il GDG Gela, insieme a tutta la community GDG e GDE, sarà presente per ricostruire e ripartire.

Penso di parlare per tutti quando dico che restiamo uniti e pronti a fare la nostra parte.

Hello everyone,

As you unfortunately know, Niscemi is experiencing dramatic times. The emergency caused by the landslide has led to numerous evacuation orders, and as of this writing, over 1,500 people have been displaced and, fortunately, no casualties.

Niscemi has never been just a "location" for us in the community. It's the place we chose together to celebrate our DevFest this year. We envisioned discussing the future and innovation within the Civic Museum: a place that tells the story of who we are, creating that bridge between past and present that makes us Sicilians unique, with all our wonderful contradictions.

Our Decision

Given the gravity of the situation, we are forced to cancel the event in Niscemi.

However, we want to make it clear: none of us intends to give up. If technology serves to improve people's lives, now is the time to demonstrate the value of our community beyond the screen. We are fully available to the authorities and the public for any need where our skills can be of assistance.

Solidarity and Action

Now is not the time for talks, but for solidarity and concrete help for the Niscemi community, away from the spotlight and where it's needed.

We want to give a big hug to our organizer Gianfranco Di Pietro, a true Niscemi native, who from the very beginning has dedicated himself unstintingly, making his resources and expertise available within the emergency center. Our motivation remains unwavering: there will be an "aftermath," and at that time, the GDG Gela, along with the entire GDG and GDE community, will be there to rebuild and start over.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that we remain united and ready to do our part.
