About this event

February 15 we host our second Meetup with the GDG Düsseldorf group (Google Developer Group) for 2017.

#GDGDUS - A GDG Düsseldorf evening with IoT and Android Things

As always we try and have an interesting mix of talks, so there is something for everyone - and new for this year is that we switch locations - so make sure you read to the end.

This time we have 3 talks by 3 different speakers - Pascal, Wolfram and Miki, who is also our host for this evening.

"A whirlwind tour of Android Things” -  Wolfram Rittmeyer, Android GDE (Google Developer Expert) with long and broad experience is giving an introduction into Android Things, how to get started, what you can do with it, and what APIs exist. You will also hear about where it differs from normal Android development and where the use of existing Android libraries and integration can help your IoT projects.

Miki, Miroslav  from Simvelop is going to hold a short talk on IoT, and show us what he has been doing lately.

And last but not least we have Pascal talking about Bluetooth 5.

Bluetooth 5 -> The Bluetooth SIG released the specification of Bluetooth 5 in December '16. This release will lay the foundation of future IoT devices: longer range (4x), faster speed (2x), bigger messages (8x)

Pascal Welsch from Grandcentrix will cover the new possibilities, backwards compatibility and how this new protocol will affect future products. Grandcentrix is Germany’s largest systems integrator specialized in the end-to-end creation of digital products and services for the Internet of Things, Smart Home and Mobile Commerce, and we are excited to once again have Pascal come and present.

Our February event will be held at Simvelop, Volmerswerther Str. 80-86, 40221 Düsseldorf,  a familiar location to those of you who have come to our IO Extended events - thank you very much Simvelop for hosting us! Without the support of you and other sponsors we wouldn't be here!

As always our monthly meetups are free of charge, so come and join us for a great evening of mingling, networking and great tech talks. And yes, there will be snacks as well.

GDG is an open independent community and we welcome everyone, all that is needed is an open mind and an interest in technology. We encourage beginners as well as very experienced techies to come and take part in the interesting discussions that always happen - looking forward to seeing you there!

Remember that we are always open for new speakers as well - if you have an interesting topic to share, let one of know and we will do our best to fit you in at one of our events. We especially welcome newcomers!

Notice! The order of the talks are not decided, so make sure you try and be  there from the start!

See you there!
