Kubectl and Managing Deployments With Kubernetes Engine

This week we will be working with kubectl and Kubernetes Engine. We'll complete Google Cloud labs hands-on, together. All attendees get access to try Google Cloud. Invite a friend who could benefit, and we'll be happy to help them get access and to get started.

About this event

Microservices architectures are increasingly popular, and companies using them need people to understand and manage them.  If you've heard of DevOps and seen the demand for DevOps talent, understanding modern architectures and deployment scenarios is part of the expected skillset.

Learn about converting applications into microservices and to orchestrating containers by doing it hands-on.

In this event we'll break an application into microservices and manage deployments to a Kubernetes cluster.

Have you ever broken an application into microservices?

At this event you will get to practice working with kubectl, Google Container Engine, and Kubernetes Engine in Google Cloud.

This week's hands-on labs:

Orchestrating the Cloud with Kubernetes

In this lab you will learn how to provision a complete Kubernetes cluster using Google Container Engine; deploy and manage Docker containers using kubectl; and break an application into microservices using Kubernetes’ Deployments and Services.

Managing Deployments Using Kubernetes Engine

Dev Ops best practices make use of multiple deployments to manage application deployment scenarios. This lab provides practice in scaling and managing containers to accomplish common scenarios where multiple heterogeneous deployments are used.

You'll work through Google Cloud labs to get hands-on experience and when you complete each whole quest, you earn a badge for your LinkedIn!

With the help of great volunteers, Jeff Williams (Google Tech Lead - UC Berkeley) and Elaine Chan (CS - Western Michigan University) lead the group through weekly events using Qwiklabs to help you learn more about Cloud Computing and running your projects on Google servers in the cloud.

Invite a friend who could benefit, and we'll be happy to help them also get access to qwiklabs.com and to help them get started

Don't miss out on the fun on Wednesdays as we learn cloud computing skills, one week at a time, with a goal of helping you level up!
