About this event

Finishing out the Deploying Applications quest, we'll be learning by working hands-on with Firebase Web to deploy a chat client and deploying a Memcached cluster on Kubernetes Engine.

Firebase Web is a good platform for hosting web applications, and the ease of setting up and deploying a whole app will be easily seen.

Memcached is used by many of the largest sites from Wikipedia and Facebook to Twitter and YouTube.  Learn how to set up your own Memcached cluster like the big sites do.

Could you imagine yourself clicking a button to deploy a massive computing cluster?  If so, or if not, you're invited to join in the learning and the fun either way.

At this event you will get to practice working with Firebase Web and Kubernetes Engine in Google Cloud.

This week's hands-on labs:

Firebase Web

In this lab you’ll learn how to use the Firebase platform to easily create Web applications and implement and deploy a chat client.

Deploying Memcached on Kubernetes Engine

In this lab you'll learn how to deploy a cluster of distributed Memcached servers on Kubernetes Engine using Kubernetes, Helm, and Mcrouter.

You'll work through Google Cloud labs to get hands-on experience and when you complete each whole quest, you earn a badge for your LinkedIn!

With the help of great volunteers, Jeff Williams (Google Tech Lead - UC Berkeley) and Elaine Chan (CS - Western Michigan University) lead the group through weekly events using Qwiklabs to help you learn more about Cloud Computing and running your projects on Google servers in the cloud.

Invite a friend who could benefit, and we'll be happy to help them also get access to qwiklabs.com and to help them get started

Don't miss out on the fun on Wednesdays as we learn cloud computing skills, one week at a time, with a goal of helping you level up!
