Wow, this is so affordable!  That's most often what people say about Google Cloud.  When the question is: "What is the cost trend for this specific detail over time?", do you know how to find the answer?  Answering that question could take a lot of time, but needn't if you have the billing data in BigQuery and have the skills to search it. 

This event is all about learning to understand and analyze cloud billing reports by using Billing Reports and BigQuery with three hands-on labs where we learn about Google Cloud Platform, Billing Reports, and BigQuery.

A Tour of Google Cloud Hands-on Labs

In this first hands-on lab you will access the Google Cloud Platform Console and use these basic Google Cloud features: Projects, Resources, IAM Users, Roles, Permissions, and APIs.

Understanding and Analyzing Your Costs with Google Cloud Billing Reports

In this lab, you familiarize yourself with Google Cloud Billing reports, which provides built-in cost reporting for GCP within the Google Cloud Console. You view Billing reports from a live billing account, understand current and forecasted GCP costs, and then analyze costs using report filters to identify cost drivers and trends

Analyzing Billing Data with BigQuery

In this lab you will create datasets and tables, import data from billing reports, and conduct a variety of queries on the data using BigQuery.

You'll work through Google Cloud labs to get hands-on experience and when you complete each whole quest, you earn a badge for your LinkedIn!

With the help of great volunteers, Jeff Williams (Google Tech Lead - UC Berkeley) and Elaine Chan (CS - Western Michigan University) lead the group through weekly events using Qwiklabs to help you learn more about Cloud Computing and running your projects on Google servers in the cloud.
