Chat bot with Apps Script & Google Certificate Authority Service

This week we will be working with Apps Script to make a chat bot integrated with Gmail and Google Calendar. Also we'll learn about Google Certificate Authority Service (CAS). We'll complete Google Cloud labs hands-on, together. All attendees get access to try Google Cloud. Invite a friend who could benefit, and we'll be happy to help them get access and to get started.

About this event

Hmmm, learn to make a chat bot or learn Google's Certificate Authority Service (CAS)?

How about both?

Chat bots using Apps Script can be used to streamline work by integrating the various Google Workspace apps as well as connecting to Google Cloud APIs and even 3rd party APIs.  Learning to and then making a chat bot can help you save a lot of time in the future.

Certificates are used when securing systems and services and Google offers a service to help you set up your own private Certificate Authority (CA).  That CA can be used to create subordinate CAs which will be used to generate certificates.

These labs both leverage Google's technologies, one using Google Workspace, the other using Google Cloud Platform.

At this event you will get to practice working with Apps Script to make a chat bot and Google's Certificate Authority Service (CAS) to create a certificate.

This week's hands-on labs:

Google Chat bot - Apps Script

Learn how to create a simple Google Chat bot—"Attendance Bot"—using Google Apps Script. The bot integrates with Gmail to set a user's vacation responder and integrates with Calendar to put a meeting on the user's calendar.

Getting started with Certificate Authority Service: Qwik Start

The Google Certificate Authority Service (CAS) is a highly available, scalable Google Cloud service that enables you to simplify, automate, and customize the deployment, management, and security of private certificates.

You'll work through Google Cloud labs to get hands-on experience and when you complete each whole quest, you earn a badge for your LinkedIn!

With the help of great volunteers, Jeff Williams (Google Tech Lead - UC Berkeley) and Elaine Chan (CS - Western Michigan University) lead the group through weekly events using Qwiklabs to help you learn more about Cloud Computing and running your projects on Google servers in the cloud.

Invite a friend who could benefit, and we'll be happy to help them also get access to qwiklabs.com and to help them get started

Don't miss out on the fun on Wednesdays as we learn cloud computing skills, one week at a time, with a goal of helping you level up!
