Agenda: Ben Catlin from the local Google office will present on the topic of Google Assistant. Here is his writeup for what sounds like a very fun talk: Well be bored no more, because in this short talk we'll show you how to get started with Google's fabulous tool, Dialogflow, to create a simple application for the Google assistant that can run on devices, web pages, or via a dial-in number. I'll walk you through how I built an application for my family that allows me to give anyone in the house "points" - just like at Hogwarts - using only Dialogflow, Cloud Functions, and Firestore on Google Cloud. And the best part is that it all fits inside the free tier of GCP usage! These basic tools are not only fun for personal use, but we'll briefly explore how they are the building blocks of some really amazing enterprise solutions that can save or make money, and be your companies hero! So join us virtually for a good time where we will talk to computers like we're in Star Trek!"
7:00 PM meeting start, main presentation
8:00 PM Q&A, optional networking
"After a long time being quarantined I'm betting you, like me, have run out of things to talk about with your assistant-powered devices around your house. And if you are like me you've also had at least one thought along the lines of "it would be really great if I could just do ...<insert thing>... just by asking Google to do it."
