We live in an age of unprecedented population growth. Cities are becoming more crowded, creating a need for higher capacity infrastructure. However, many city governments have been slow to respond, and the most effective way to create new infrastructure is largely untapped. Cities need to focus on smart mobility to provide a better infrastructure for its citizens.
The population of the U.S is expected to grow to 400 million by the year 2080, and we expect around 66% of this population will reside in metropolitan areas. With urbanization and densification, cities are becoming more compact — which means that mobility needs to be supported by a well-planned infrastructure. If cities fail to consider smart mobility in the near future, then the quality of life in these areas will suffer.
