Welcome to the grand finale of A Beginner's Guide to Google Cloud Data & AI Services! Over the past few weeks, we have moved from foundations to prototyping, and finally to production. Today, we are focusing on the most critical step for your career: proof of work.
It’s one thing to complete a codelab; it’s another to show the world you can do it. In this final hands-on session, we will teach you how to package your Google Cloud achievements into a professional developer portfolio on GitHub.
We will use our recent Cloud Run guide as the centerpiece for your portfolio. Here is exactly how we will push it live:
Terminal to Cloud: We'll start in your local terminal, configuring your environment and preparing your application files.
Git Foundations: Initializing a local Git repository right where your Cloud Run code and configuration files live.
The GitHub Bridge: Authenticating with GitHub from your terminal and creating a clean, public repository.
The Push: Staging, committing, and pushing your production-ready Cloud Run deployment code to GitHub.
Crafting the Perfect README: Documentation is key. We will show you how to write a compelling README.md that explains your architecture, the services used (like Secret Manager or VPC access), and features a screenshot of your live, running app.
Move Beyond "Tutorial Hell": Certificates are nice, but clean code on GitHub is what engineering managers want to see. This session turns your learning into a tangible asset.
Master the Professional Workflow: Real developers don't just code in a browser console. They use local terminals, version control, and cloud platforms simultaneously. You will leave this session mastering that exact pipeline.
Launch Your Portfolio: By the end of this hour, you won't just have cloud experience—you will have a live, shareable repository to add to your CV and LinkedIn.
To participate fully in this final build, please make sure you have:
Your Laptop (fully charged).
A GitHub Account (sign up for free at github.com if you haven't already).
Git Installed on your local machine (we can assist with this during the kickoff if needed).
Your previous Cloud Run project files from our earlier sessions.
