Code for Communities Chandigarh

Code for Communities is GDG Cloud Chandigarh's flagship hackathon, bringing developers, students, and open-source enthusiasts together for a full day of hands-on building. Taking place on October 23, 2026, at Chandigarh University Auditorium, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the hackathon is built around a simple idea: learn by building, together.

What You'll Build

Participants will form teams and build real projects using open-source AI tools and open-weight models over the course of the day. This year's focus is on AI agents and orchestration, multi-agent systems, agent frameworks, tool and function calling, and applied AI in production, alongside open-source contribution more broadly. Whether you're building your first project or leading a team, there's room to experiment, ship, and learn.

What to Expect

• Opening session introducing open-source contribution and the day's themes

• A full day of hands-on hacking time, with breaks for lunch and networking

• Mentor support throughout the day for teams that get stuck or want guidance

• Live judging and project demos at the end of the day

• Prizes for winning teams, along with participation recognition for everyone who builds

Who Should Join

This hackathon is open to students, developers, and professionals at any experience level. No matter whether you're making your first pull request or you've contributed to dozens of projects, there's a place for you. Work on your project must begin at the event, not before, so come ready to build from scratch.

What to Bring

Just your laptop, your curiosity, and a willingness to learn and collaborate. Teams can be formed in advance or on the day, and mentors will be available to help you find a team or a project idea if you're coming solo.
