About this event

Join GDG Cape Town as we celebrate International Women’s Day 2026 with the global Women Techmakers theme, “Break the Pattern". This event highlights the stories, ideas, and leadership of women who are challenging norms, breaking barriers, and shaping the future of technology.

Through inspiring talks and an interactive panel discussion, we’ll explore how women in tech are redefining careers, creating impact, and opening doors for the next generation. Whether you’re early in your career or a seasoned professional, this event offers meaningful insights, connection, and inspiration.

We are excited to feature an amazing line-up of speakers:

  • Zubaidah Amod, Associate Business Process Engineer at impact.com and founder of a tech-enabled henna business, will present “Done is Better Than Perfect: Building a Tech-Enabled Business.” She will share her experiences building and scaling a business using technology.

  • Pamela Hill, Developer Advocate for Kotlin Multiplatform at JetBrains, will present “Beyond the Mentorship Ceiling: Give Women the Keys, Not Just the Map.” Pamela will explain why mentorship alone is not enough and share practical ways to give women real influence in decision-making.

  • Paidamoyo Kirsty Dzinoreva, Finance and Economics student, AWS Student Club chair, and AI agency team member, will present “AI Does Not Care About Your Degree: How I Broke the Pattern.” She will share her journey from university readmission to building AI solutions, demonstrating how curiosity and experimentation can create opportunities regardless of your background.

The panel discussion will also feature Georgina Armstrong, Head of Data at Zedge Inc. Georgina has over ten years of experience in data science and leads international data teams. She will share her insights on building productive, collaborative, and diverse teams during the discussion.

The event will conclude with a panel discussion in which all the speakers will share insights, answer questions, and discuss ways to break barriers and amplify women’s voices in technology.
