Begin your AI journey with this beginner-friendly workshop designed for researchers and academics. If you have little to no prior coding experience, this session is for you. We will focus on the core Python concepts essential for understanding the language-of-choice for modern AI workloads. We will explore fundamental concepts you will need for AI-powered research starting with setting up our technical environment and foundational Python. Expect a friendly pace with hands-on, live-coding demonstrations.

In this 2-hour virtual session, you will:

  • Set up your environment: Learn how to configure an AI-enabled Python environment using Google Colab.

  • Learn Python basics: Understand syntax, core data types, and basic control flow.

  • Work with scientific data: Import and explore common datasets (like CSVs) using Pandas.

  • Connect to AI: Generate and configure your Google AI Studio API key to prepare for AI integrations.
